FAQ

Frequently asked questions related to this project.

The funding has been secured for this specific project which means it can’t be spent on anything else.

The council are committed to investing in all our communities to improve opportunities to choose to walk, cycle or wheel, which is aligned with national transport policy. Projects are identified based on local community feedback, such as output from Community Action Plans.

Thank you for looking at the project now you know about it. Each design stage includes adverts on social media, in the local paper, leaflets distributed around the town, an in-person event and an online digital consultation.

Projects are approved by Councillors before funding is sought for the next design stage. Once the full design is complete, Councillors will make a decision if funding should be sought for project construction.

As a project progresses, there is the opportunity for the community to provide feedback up to and including the detailed design stage.

The cost will depend on the final design. In the early stages of the design process, the design is not developed enough for detailed costings. It is likely that the final construction cost will be in the region of £15,000,000 and will take in excess of 8 years to deliver.

There is no certainty that any design will be built until technical design has been completed and funding for construction has been secured. However, if you want to see something built here in the future, your support at this stage is vital to support future funding applications for the project.
